CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The William Smith College swimming and diving team completed the dual meet portion of its schedule with wins over Cazenovia and Wells this afternoon. Three Cazenovia pool records were eclipsed as the Herons improve to 9-2 in dual meets this year.
In the first individual event of the day, the 1000-yard freestyle, sophomore
Nicole Katchis cruised to a 15 second victory, touching the wall with a new pool record time of 11:55.03. Senior
Sam Bowers finished third and sophomore
Rabiah Fresco was sixth. The second pool record came in the 400 individual medley. First-year
Anna Leffler cruised to a first place finish with a winning time of 5:01.12. Sophomore
Kelley Mantz was second, 11 seconds behind. On the 1-meter board, sophomore
Therese Mandracchia established a new Cazenovia pool record with an 11-dive score of 394.90.

Kelsey McElwain stopped the clock at 1:59.94, three seconds ahead of the "B" relay team of senior
Kelsey Bohl, junior
Kate Moreau, sophomore
Emily Haskins, and Mantz. The Herons continued this momentum into the individual events, finishing first in every event.
Bohl added victories in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. In the 200 freestyle, Haskins finished second, two seconds behind Bohl. Conboy, Mandracchia, and McElwain finished 1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle. Conboy earned her second win of the day in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 58.40. Leffler was also a double winner for the Herons, winning the 100 backstroke. Swimming unofficially, Mantz placed first in the 100 breaststroke.
William Smith beat Cazenovia 153-85 and swam past Wells 158-56.
The Herons will be back in the pool next weekend, Jan. 28, when it travels to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., for the Skidmore Invitational.
