GENEVA, N.Y.- The William Smith College swimming and diving team defeated Alfred 143-95 in Bristol Pool this afternoon. The Herons improve to 2-0 with the victory.

William Smith touched the wall first in all but one event. The Herons were led by sophomore
Anna Leffler and first-years
Molly Egan and
Emma Wilber, who each had a hand in three victories.

The Herons opened the meet with a 23-second victory in the 400-yard medley relay. Leffler and Wilber teamed with sophomore
Caroline Nash and first-year
Katie Neff to post a winning time of 4:20.43. Individually, Leffler went on to win the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke. She bested the field by 11 seconds, stopping the clock at 2:17.26. Leffler won the backstroke with a time of 1:01.95.

Wilber finished first in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke. She won the 100 fly by two seconds over senior
Emily Haskins, stopping the clock at 1:01.75. In the breaststroke she touched the wall first with a time of 1:12.38, three seconds ahead of senior
Kate Moreau.

For the second straight week, Egan won the 1000, 100, and 500 freestyles. In the distance event, she cruised to a 49 second victory with a winning time of 11:08.49. Egan then posted a three second victory in the 100 freestyle over Neff. In the middle distance, she touched the wall with a winning time of 5:33.08, nine seconds ahead of Haskins.

Haskins picked up an individual win in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall at 2:07.75. In the 50 freestyle, Neff out touched Alfred's Kristen Brown by three-hundredths of a second, with a time of 27.11.

The Saxon's Victoria Cramp won both diving events. First-year
Olivia Dellicicchi was second on the one-meter board with a score of 156.10. Fellow first-years
Ruby Verbitsky and
Allison Jordan were third and fourth, respectively. On the three-meter board, Jordan was second with a score of 117.15. Dellicicchi was third, three points back.

William Smith will be back in Bristol Pool on Tuesday, Nov. 7, when it hosts Ithaca.
