A two-sport All-Star, Haggerty was a three-time All-American for the William Smith soccer team and the 1991 Empire Athletic Association Player of the Year in basketball. As a first-year, she scored the game-winning goal in the third overtime to lift the Herons to the NCAA Division III Championship, the first National Championship for any William Smith athletic program. A native of West Hartford, Conn., Haggerty holds the William Smith record for points in a season (44 in 1988) and shares the mark for goals in a season (20 in 1988). A first-team All-NYSWCAA selection in each of her four seasons, she garnered first-team All-American, Regional All-American, and All-League honors in her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. On the hardwood, she earned the 1989 Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year award and in 1991 claimed the EAA Player of the Year award. She ranks sixth in career steals, 10th in career assists, 11th in career points, and 12th in career rebounds.
After graduating from William Smith, she pursued a career in coaching. The former women’s soccer head coach at Hamilton College and Carnegie Mellon University, she most recently served as an assistant William Smith soccer coach and the Director of the Hobart and William Smith Sport and Recreation Center through June, 2000.
