Thomas J. Rosa '86 served as captain of the football team in 1985. He was a four-year letterwinner in both football and lacrosse. During his four years as a member of the lacrosse team, Hobart won four consecutive NCAA Division III National Championships. In 1986, he was named the Division III Player of the Year and a first-team All-American. He also excelled in football and was honored as a three-time All-American in 1983, 1985, and 1986. He was named to the ECAC Honor Roll for football in 1982 and was an ICAC Defensive Player of the Week selection several times throughout his career. He was recognized for his athletic ability when he twice received the Vincent S. Welch Memorial Award (1983 and 1985) as the MVP in football, the Judge Thomas Kane Memorial Trophy as MVP in lacrosse (1986), the Noel Fillipino Memorial Award in 1984 for leadership and dedication in football, and the Babe Kraus Memorial Award, which signifies the Athlete of the Year at Hobart College.
