Larry AdkinsonCol. J. Laurence "Larry" Adkinson Jr. '62, USMC (Ret.) was a member of the Chimera Honor Society while earning seven letters as a member of the football and lacrosse teams at Hobart. A native of Geneva, he was a three-sport athlete in high school, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball.

In his senior year he served as team captain of the football team and was named an honorable mention AP Little All-American and was a first-team ECAC All-East selection. He earned All-American honors in lacrosse as a junior and senior and led the nation in scoring in 1961 with 43 goals and 29 assists. Adkinson, who established Hobart scoring records during his varsity career, played in the 1962 North-South Lacrosse All-Star game.

Adkinson went on to serve his country in the Vietnam War where he flew 681 combat missions as a Marine aviator. He was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross and earned 48 personal combat decorations. He assisted with the lacrosse program while a faculty member at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. After serving several years at the Pentagon, Adkinson retired with the rank of colonel from the Marine Corps.
