20863Ms. Seeley was a faculty member of William Smith College from 1932-71. She came to Geneva after receiving a bachelor of arts degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1927 and earning a master of arts degree from Teachers College of Columbia University in 1932.

Seeley played a major role in the dance program at the College. She had attended the Bennington School of Dance and the Martha Graham course in New York City. She also attended the Elizabeth Duncan School of Dance in Salzburg and Munich, receiving a teaching certificate in 1939.

Seeley was a major contributor in establishing the solid foundation of the presently nationally recognized William Smith College athletic, physical education, and dance departments. She was very active behind the scenes in promoting women's athletics, not just at William Smith, but at all levels everywhere. She retired in 1971, as director of the William Smith Physical Education Department.

Winn-Seeley Gymnasium is named in honor of Ms. Seeley and her close friend Marcia Winn who were the two main contributors that instituted William Smith athletics.
