A three-time ECAC All-Star, Estella “Trena” Sutton Mainor ’88 ranks in the top-10 in career scoring (8th) and rebounding (4th). She became just the second player in William Smith history to reach the 1,000 point plateau, finishing with 1,155 points (15.0 ppg). She scored 37 points at Binghamton on Feb. 13, 1985, the second highest single-game total in school history. The team’s leading rebounder in each of her four seasons, Sutton posted the eighth and ninth best single season efforts on the boards, corralling 206 during the 1984-85 season and 200 during the ’85-86 campaign. She ranks fourth all-time in career rebounds with 745 (9.7 rpg) and owns the top single-game rebounding effort with 28 boards on Feb. 13, 1985, at Binghamton. She received numerous awards as a player, including two team MVP awards, first-team NYSWCAA All-State as a junior and senior, third-team American Women’s Sports Federation Fast-break All-American as a junior, second-team All-Greater Rochester as a sophomore, and honorable mention All-Greater Rochester as a senior. In 1988, Sutton was selected to the Empire State Games basketball team. She has spent the last 11 years as a high school basketball coach, earning the Conference and County Coach of the Year awards in 1997 after her McDonough High School girls’ varsity basketball team posted a 22-1 season. Mainor is also a member of the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame.
