Jerry W. Angell '56 excelled in both football and lacrosse at Hobart. He was the recipient of many awards for his outstanding athletic performance. In lacrosse he was selected as a Lacrosse Little All-American in both 1953 and 1954, he participated in the North-South All-Star game of 1956, and he received the Vandeverg Trophy (most improved) for lacrosse in 1956. In football he was selected as a third-team Little All-American in 1955 as well as being a part of Hobart's first undefeated football team in 1954. Outside of athletics Angell was a class agent through 1990 and was a member of the Orange Key honor society. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1982 after earning a Silver Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, a Purple Heart, and 14 Air Medals.
