Rick P. Gilbert '74 was a four-year All-America selection at Hobart. He established a USILA record with 444 career points, including 157 goals and a USILA career-record 287 assists. He exceeded 100 points as a sophomore, junior and senior, setting the USILA single-season record of 88 assists as a junior. His 11-assist performance against Geneseo in 1973 is a Hobart record. One of only two Hobart players to receive All-America honors for four straight seasons, he was named a first-team All-American three times (1972-74) after earning honorable mention as a freshman. Featured in a Sports Illustrated article about Hobart lacrosse, Gilbert helped the Statesmen to the USILA College Division Championship in 1972 as well as the NCAA College Division title games in 1973 and 1974. His jersey number (42) was retired in 1975, the first Hobart lacrosse number to be retired.
