William J. Bergan '86 was a two-sport star at Hobart, earning four letters in lacrosse and three letters in hockey. He served as team captain of both sports his senior year. Bergan, a two-time first-team All-American in lacrosse, was named the Division III Midfielder of the Year in 1986. He received the Judge Kane Memorial Trophy (lacrosse MVP) that same year and the William H. Dobbin '40 Memorial Award (top offensive lacrosse player) in 1985. He played on the winning team at the 35th annual North-South Lacrosse All-Star game as a senior. A tenacious hockey player, Bergan was named the team's Most Valuable Player following the 1985-86 season.
