An offensive guard, Bell earned All-America honors following his junior and senior seasons.

In 2003, Bell earned a spot on the D3football.com All-America third team and received Sports Information Directors All-America honorable mention. He helped the Statesmen average 343.5 yards of offense per game. Hobart ran the majority of its plays behind the blocks of Bell, averaging 156.6 yards rushing and 186.2 yards passing. He did not allow a sack.

In 2004, Bell was named to three All-America teams, earning first team praise from the AFCA and D3football.com while Don Hansen's Football Gazette put him on its third team. He paved the way for the Statesmen to set team records for passing yards (2,302), passing touchdowns (31), total offense (4,501), touchdowns (50), and points (364). With Bell as the keystone, Hobart’s offensive line reduced the number of sacks it allowed from 43 in 2003 to 25 in 2004, despite playing one more game. The Statesmen led the Liberty League in rushing offense (199.9 yds/g) and scoring (33.1 ppg).
