The 2011 recipient of Hobart's Most Valuable Sailor Award, Thompson earned 2011 ICSA All-American Skipper. He also received the 2008 Rookie Award for sailing and the Classes of 1994 Award. Thompson led HWS to victory at the Admiral Moore Team Race as well as helped the team to a second place finish in the Prosser Trophy.
