A forward, McBride was named to the 2014-15 American Hockey Coaches Association/CCM East All-America third team. McBride played in all 28 games as a senior, finishing the year with an ECAC West-high 13 goals and nine assists. He led the team and was fifth in the conference with five power-play goals. The first team All-ECAC West selection helped Hobart capture its third ECAC West Tournament Championship, assisting on the Statesmen's regulation goal against Neumann in the title game. Hobart won the contest 2-1 in overtime.

McBride transferred to Hobart from the Air Force Academy. In three seasons with the Statesmen, he appeared in 79 games, recording 27 goals and 25 assists. Hobart went 54-21-6 during McBride's time on the team, capturing the 2012-13 and 2014-15 ECAC West regular season titles, as well as this year's conference tournament championship.

A standout in the classroom as well, McBride is a two-time ECAC West All-Academic Team selection.
