Newsome earns her first career All-America praise after a breakout season that saw her earn AVCA All-Region and All-Liberty League first team honors. In 111 sets, Newsome tallied 186 kills, 111 blocks and 17 digs. She recorded double-digit kills three times this season, including a career-high 20-kill (.545) performance against No. 15 Ithaca in October. Newsome tallied a career-high nine blocks in a four-set loss to No. 6 Johns Hopkins in the second round of the NCAA tournament. She finished the season leading the Liberty League in blocking (1.00 blk/s) and ranked fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.322).

The middle blocker from Bloomfield, Michigan, was a huge threat at the net this season, tallying five or more blocks in 11 matches. Through two seasons, Newsome has averaged 1.47 kills per set—hitting .308— and added 0.95 blocks per set and 2.03 points per set for the Herons.
