Fischer was named an ITA doubles All-American after a strong fall season that saw him and partner Jacob Linares go 7-1 in doubles play, winning the ITA Northeast Regionals Doubles bracket before making it to the semifinals of the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia. They were the first doubles team to reach the ITA Cup since 2022 and the first doubles team in program history to win its opening match at the national championships.
At the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, Fischer and Linares defeated teams from Yeshiva, RIT, Skidmore, Vassar and Hamilton on their way to winning the doubles title. The duo went on to defeat Whitman’s Charles Rush and Artem Manov 7-5, 6-4 in a thrilling opening round matchup to advance to the quarterfinals. Fischer and Linares took on top-seeded Gage Gohl and Tyler Haddorff of Gustavus Adolphus in the quarterfinals and won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the semifinals against CMS’s Henry Wilson and Sibi Raja.
Fischer and Linares battled against Raja and Wilson, taking them to a 10-point match tiebreaker, ultimately falling 18-16 in the thrilling matchup. Raja and Wilson took a dramatic set one 7-6 (7-5) after the Statesmen fought off eight set points but fell just short. The Hobart duo responded with a 7-5 win in the second set after being down 4-1 originally but fighting back to force the match to a tiebreaker.
The two sides forced extra points in the tiebreaker set with the match ending at 18-16 in favor of CMS. The two sides combined to fight off eight match points before Raja and Wilson closed out the tiebreaker on top 18-16.
With an impressive start to the season, Fischer and Linares earned All-America status. The Statesmen duo were Hobart’s first All-Americans since Walker Anderson and Alan Dubrovsky earned All-American honors in 2019.
