Forward Matthew Wallace was named to the 2011 Reebok Men's Hockey All-American East First Team, as chosen by the American Hockey Coaches Association.Â
Wallace led the Statesmen with 16 goals and 28 points this season. He also chipped in 12 assists. The ECAC Men's West Player of the Year and All-League first team selection set-up the game-winning goal in Hobart's 1-0 win over then No. 12 Manhattanville in the ECAC West Tournament first round game. He also earned an assist in the semifinal against top-seeded and then nationally-ranked No. 7 Elmira. For his efforts Wallace earned a spot on the 2011 ECAC Men's West All-Tournament team.
Wallace recorded seven multi-point games as a senior. In a 6-5 win over then No. 11 Elmira on Nov. 19, he registered three goals and two assists to tie the Hobart records for goals in a game and points in a game.
After four years on the ice, Wallace finished eighth on the all-time list with 52 career goals. He registered 46 career helpers for 98 career points, the most by a Statesman since Craig Levey '05 recorded 111 points. A three time all-conference selection, Wallace is tied for seventh on the Statesmen list with 17 career power-play goals, and shares the program record with eight career short-handed tallies. Wallace tied for ninth on the Hobart list for goals in a season with his 16 tallies this year. He also tied the record for short-handed goals in a season, logging four in his junior year.
