Hobart and William Smith Colleges Athletics

Barna was the third defense on the 1929 USILA All-America second team. He was a first-team alternate All-American football player as a senior and an honorable mention All-American as a junior. Barna also was captain of the football team as a senior. Hobart football's lineman award for love of the game ("he came to play, he came to win") is named after him. He played lacrosse as a senior and earned second-team All-American honors.
