Hobart College junior defenseman Tanner Shaw was named an American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American, earning a spot on the East third team in 2018.
 
Shaw becomes Hobart hockey's 16th AHCA All-American. It's the fourth year in a row that a Statesman has been named to the AHCA All-America teams.
 
An alternate captain, Shaw played in all 29 games this winter. He ranked fourth on the team with 13 assists and 19 points. Shaw ranked second in the NEHC in defenseman scoring. He was fourth in the league in power-play goals (5), sixth in power-play points (10) and 13th in assists.  Shaw logged a career-high six goals this season, including the game winner at New England College.
 
Shaw anchored the Hobart defense that ranked first in the NEHC and sixth in the nation in scoring defense (1.90). The Statesmen's 1.86 goals against average ranked third on Hobart's single season list. Hobart was also second in the league and 20th in Division III on the penalty kill and third in the NEHC and 13th in the country on the power play (23.2%).
 
Shaw earned NEHC first team all-conference honors this year. He was named to the ECAC West and USCHO.com all-rookie teams as a first-year. Shaw has played in 83 career games and has posted 13 goals and 38 assists for 51 points. He has guided the Statesmen to three straight conference tournament titles and three trips to the NCAA tournament.
